Background of the Study

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Mokwa LGA face numerous challenges related to financial sustainability, including managing costs and optimizing revenue generation. Break-even analysis, a key financial tool, helps businesses determine the point at which they can cover their costs and begin to make a profit. This study explores how SMEs in Mokwa LGA can apply break-even analysis as a strategic tool for financial planning.

Statement of the Problem

Many SMEs in Mokwa LGA struggle with determining the right pricing strategies and cost structures to remain profitable. Break-even analysis provides insights into the level of sales required to cover fixed and variable costs. This study aims to evaluate the application and impact of break-even analysis on SME financial planning in Mokwa LGA.

Research Hypothesis

  1. H₀: Break-even analysis does not significantly impact the financial performance of SMEs in Mokwa LGA.
  2. H₀: There is no significant relationship between break-even analysis and effective financial planning in SMEs in Mokwa LGA.
  3. H₀: Challenges faced by SMEs in applying break-even analysis do not significantly hinder their financial planning.

Significance of the Study

The study will contribute to understanding the role of break-even analysis in enhancing the financial planning and decision-making processes of SMEs in Mokwa LGA.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

The study will focus on SMEs in Mokwa LGA. Limitations include challenges in obtaining accurate financial data and potential variations in the level of financial literacy among SMEs.
